The first step in making this handcrafted Chinese red crystal glaze ceramic vase is to strictly select the materials. Jingdezhen, China, has unique high-quality kaolin resources, and the blending of red crystal glaze is also very particular. Relying on the experience and superb skills passed down from generation to generation, the craftsmen selected a variety of metal oxides and other raw materials, and after precise proportions and repeated experiments, they formulated a unique golden sand red crystal glaze. After firing, this glaze can present a brilliant red color like the shining golden sand, with rich color and rich layering, which has become a highlight of this vase.

Peony, as a treasure among traditional Chinese flowers, symbolizes wealth, auspiciousness, and prosperity, and is the core decoration of this vase.

The craftsmen hold the brush, dip it in special pigments, and carefully outline the outline of the peony on the blank.

Gold embellishment adds luxurious charm
Gold, that is, the pigment made of gold powder with a high gold content, has always been regarded as a symbol of luxury and nobility in ceramic decoration.

High-temperature firing makes it a peerless treasure. The vase is carefully sent into the high-temperature kiln for firing. The temperature in the kiln is as high as about 1300℃. In such a high-temperature environment, the vase undergoes a gorgeous transformation. It combines exquisite craftsmanship, unique color matching, and beautiful patterns. Whether it is placed in the living room to show elegant taste, or given as a precious gift to relatives and friends to convey deep friendship, or collected in a museum for people to appreciate and study, it is undoubtedly an excellent choice.

The History of Jingdezhen Ceramics

Located in China's Jiangxi Province, Jingdezhen boasts a history of porcelain making that spans over 1,700 years.

Jingdezhen's porcelain journey began during the Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD), when locals began crafting simple pottery. Over time, by the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD), Jingdezhen had become renowned for producing high-quality celadon (blue-colored porcelain) and white porcelain. These porcelains, famous for their delicate texture and smooth glaze, began to be traded throughout China.

Basic Ceramic Production Process

1. Select and prepare the ceramic raw materials.

2. Form the body.

3. Allow to air dry.

4. Glaze to impart color and luster to the ceramic.

5. Firing at high temperatures. This is the transformation from clay to ceramic.

6. Apply decorations such as painting and carving, and polish to enhance the texture.
